We feel that we differ from other breeders because have been so selective with all our dogs.

We spent 2 years just looking for our dogs. We travelled to many countries, breeders and dog shows in order to find the best dogs. We have bloodlines that no-one has and no-one else knows about. 3 out of 4 of our adult dogs are pick of litters and the other one was the product of 2 picks of litters.

We continually strive to better our dogs. Our dogs enjoy an active life and we never forget that they are family members also. All our dogs are house dogs and all our puppies are well socialised from a very young age with people, children and other dogs. We promised ourselves from a very early stage that we would never have multiple kennels with dogs kept here there and everywhere. Although we are probably not practical we prefer quality not quantity.

We got Suki from Jack Sterling. He told us that he had 2 female pups left one with a problem on it's belly the other one was fine. We paid $3000 for the one that was fine unfortunately he sent the other one. I later read an e-mail that he'd written in which he wrote that he could only get $500 for the pups because of their problem. We were very angry with Jack and his excuse was that he'd forgotten to tell us that Suki had had an operation for an umbilical hernia repair. He offered ½ the money back but never sent us a penny. We couldn't understand why he lied. We had intended to buy more dogs from him but felt we could no longer trust him. Although Jack let us down Suki is our pride and joy and we love her so much. She's a fine looking dog and she's very affectionate. Feeling down and dismayed we needed to find a new breeder, someone we could trust then Peter Checkley stepped onto the scene.

If I thought Jack was bad then nothing could prepare me for Peter Checkley. He promised me a show quality dog with all the attributes that make a good Thai Ridgeback. He promised me 3 generation pedigrees, black markings on the tongue, black nails, an athletic build (not Greyhound type) basically a strong healthy female pup which I could breed from. The cost was £500. Before he sent her he told me that she had no black markings on her tongue and only 1 generation pedigree. A bit of a disappointment we felt but we still wanted her. What he actually sent me was a very ill looking, skinny pup which had ticks, poor skin, broken teeth, white markings on nails and she also came in with kennel cough. We were gutted when we first saw her. She looked like a pup from the Sunday market. She was very small, very weak and non-respondent.

We decided to call her "Minky". After 1 week her health was still deteriorating and she was taken out of the kennels and moved to 24hour watch at the vets. Her blood was analysed by a top veterinary University near to London but they didn't have any answers either. After 2 weeks at the vets she could no longer stand up and seemed in pain. The vet recommended her to be put to sleep. The vet thought it was some sort of tropical disease and we were only allowed in to see her with gloves, a gown and a mask on our faces. They were very worried about what she had and advised us not to let Martin's children in to see her. Peter Checkley told me that the British Government approved quarantine kennels that had picked her up must have made some sort of mistake and given her something which eventually killed her. He also said that she must have picked up the ticks and kennel cough on the plane. He couldn't explain the broken teeth or the bad skin condition. Unfortunately the insurance wouldn't pay out due to the fact she was in such poor health when she arrived. Peter said he would send me another one then tried to charge me £1000. I was very angry at the nerve of him and questioned his actions. Suddenly he stopped responding to my e-mails, I also rang him and he told me he hadn't received any of them. He started avoiding me and never returned my calls. I later heard that other people have also had pups sent by him that have also died. He's not even a breeder, more of a middleman. There may be some satisfied customers out there but I'm only telling you of our experiences. My advice is Beware of Peter and his dogs!
